I have been working as a freelance translator and interpreter of Greek for nearly 25 years. I have English as my mother tongue but have an Honours Degree in Greek from the University of Birmingham and also have a Greek-Cypriot wife.
The greater part of my work involves interpreting for the Metropolitan Police and the courts in London and the provinces, but I also have considerable experience of translating texts of all kinds from Greek into English. These have included legal documents, press releases, medical reports, newspaper articles and two books - one a theological work by professor Mantzarides of Salonica University and the other a commentary on the wall-paintings at Stavronikita Monastery on Mount Athos. I am presently engaged in translating a book about the Athonite monk Fr. Paisios.
In principle I will entertain any sort of translating work from Greek into English and my rates are considerably lower than those charged by commercial agencies.
